Step Back - Horses For Courses
We are delighted to be able to welcome our new Retraining of Racehorses Horses for Courses Ambassador, Step Back to our ranks for the 2024 season.
The Horses for Course campaign was launched in 2023 and was aimed at following the post-racing journeys of horses that have a close relationship and affiliation with the chosen racecourse. Step Back won the 2018 bet365 Gold Cup, one of our most prestigious races, as well as placing in another renewal and winning a Veteran's Chase here in 2020. He also competed in the 2019 Grand National.
Step Back is now living a full life with the Sara Bradstock in his post-racing career and you will be able to see him at selected racedays at Sandown Park in 2024 and 2025.
Owners & Jockeys Abandonment Policy
As part of The Jockey Club’s ongoing commitment to participants, should racing be abandoned in the middle of a card due to extreme weather challenges or issues with the ground, JCR will look to offer a one off, ‘good will’ payment to owners and jockeys to cover costs.
