After a long wait, we were delighted to be able to welcome racing back to Sandown Park on Saturday as part of a new, revised fixture list created by the British Horseracing Authority.
The fixture took place behind closed doors with an eight-race card including the listed Unibet Scurry Stakes, where Lazuli made all of the running to claim a victory for trainer Charlie Appleby and jockey William Buick.

The duo had success elsewhere during the meeting as Well Of Wisdom survived a stewards’ enquiry to win the Unibet 3 Uniboosts A Day Handicap Stakes.
Other winners on the card included a double for Richard Hannon and Sean Levey with Happy Romance and Manigordo, while Buick recorded his third win of the day on Solid Stone.

Racing’s return has been given the go ahead thanks to extensive work with Government to ensure the lowest possible risk of transmission of the virus.
Key to this is our ability to provide a secure site, with access only for those who have undergone online training, satisfactorily answered a series of questions and had their temperature checked on arrival at the course.
Inside, we are taking every possible measure to ensure social distancing is maintained, along with the highest standards of personal hygiene and equipment cleanliness.
If you’d like to find out more about how we are safely racing behind closed doors, click here.
Finally, as we continue working to safely deliver an exciting new fixture list and in order to best support the sport we all love, we are asking you to watch the racing from home until we are able to welcome you back.
With thanks,
The team at Sandown Park.
