The Jockey Club have today announced the extension of Blandford Bloodstock’s sponsorship at Newmarket Racecourses.
The Newmarket based international bloodstock agency has been supporting races at Newmarket Racecourses for over twenty years, with this year’s sponsorship taking in two Class Two maiden races, on Saturday 29th June and Saturday 28th September.
Both maidens will be run as Class Two’s for the first time, and for over £20,000 in prize money as part of the development of Premier Racedays. This follows the start of the season at the Rowley Mile, which saw some exciting horses winning the maiden races during the Craven meeting. This included Kikkuli, the last half-brother to Frankel out of the mare Kind, who impressively won the Alex Scott Maiden, for three year olds.
There have been some famous stars that have come out victorious from the Blandford Bloodstock sponsored races, most notably Saffron Beach, who was the leading flag bearer for Jane Chapple-Hyam’s yard between 2020 and 2022. Following her win in the Blandford Bloodstock Maiden Fillies' Stakes, which then was a Class Four, she went on to win at the highest level including two Group One’s, one back at Newmarket Racecourse.
Blandford Bloodstock’s Tom Goff, commented, “We are delighted to continue our support for Newmarket and The Jockey Club. Premier Racedays are going to be hugely significant going forward, so it’s important that we all get behind the initiative and give it every chance.”
Sophie Able, Newmarket Racecourses General Manager and International Director, added, “It’s fantastic to have Blandford Bloodstock join us for another year. Their continued support and investment into the race programme at Newmarket Racecourses is brilliant and we look forward to an exciting season ahead.”
