For many, Boxing Day at Huntingdon is as much a part of the festive ritual as presents under the tree, roast turkey and falling asleep in front of the TV on Christmas Day afternoon.
The traditional December 26th fixture is widely considered to be our Cambridgeshire track’s most popular raceday of the calendar. And while the racing might not quite deliver the same standard as Peterborough Chase Day earlier in the month, the competition is fierce and there is some serious sport on offer.
Racing fans can take in the full seven-race card from any one of the many on-course vantage points and still not miss a second of the action from our Grade One Ladbrokes King George VI Chase at Kempton Park on the big screen.
With racing going on all over the country on Boxing Day, big and small yards alike are represented at Huntingdon. One of the most intriguing contests is the handicap hurdle over two and a half miles - a race won in 2017 by a certain Cloth Cap, who would go on to win the Ladbrokes Trophy for the Trevor Hemmings and Jonjo O’Neill team and start favourite for the 2021 Randox Grand National.
There’s something for everyone at our Boxing Day meeting so put down the leftovers and join us for a thrilling afternoon of entertainment.
There are no cash machines available on our courses so if you plan to use cash, please remember to bring it with you.
