'THE GREATEST SHOW ON TURF’ DELIGHTS EASTER CROWDS AT HAYDOCK PARK FAMILY DAY
On Saturday, [20th April, 2019] Haydock Park Racecourse hosted ‘The Greatest Show on Turf’ for its annual Easter Family Day, welcoming a crowd of over 10,000 adults and children, to the course for a jam-packed, sunny day of racing and entertainment.
Children attended the event free of charge and race-goers of all ages enjoyed a full itinerary of Greatest Showman inspired performances, including fire-eaters, unicyclists, jugglers and contortionists.
There was also a huge carousel, giant inflatables, a Ferris Wheel and an adorable pony trail to keep the whole family occupied – not forgetting fancy dress, circus workshops and creative craft tables. With temperatures soaring to a high of 23 degrees, racegoers were treated to one of the warmest Easter weekends in recent history.
On the track, the Betway Challenger Series saw six competitive finals with over £300,000 in prize money. Django Django won the Stayers Hurdle for the O’Neill’s and leading jockey Richard Johnson was successful aboard Cubswin in the two Mile Hurdle.
Regional Director of the Jockey Club Racecourses, North West said: “We were thrilled with the success of our Easter Family Fun Day on Saturday.
