Making a Booking

Sessions on the ice are 45 minutes from the start of your timeslot.
Only bring essential items to the rink with you. There are cloakrooms, but the space available is limited, so please pack lightly. Our team will not be able to look after your belongings for you. The cloakroom is £2 per item and purchased by card only.

Please arrive 30 minutes before your session start time to allow ample time to put your skates on and store any belongings.

We recommend that all sessions are pre-booked online to avoid disappointment and avoid queues on site at busy periods. You can purchase tickets at the rink but these are subject to availability only. We strongly recommend you pre-book tickets online due to high volumes of people attending the event.

To skate on our rinks, you have to be at least 3 years old.
Children under 10 must always be supervised by an adult on the ice. Adults and children must have tickets. Children 10 – 12 years must be supervised by an adult at the rink/venue.

Yes, we will be able to scan your tickets using your phone. There is no need to print your tickets off, just make sure your QR code is visible on entry and turn the brightness on your device up to ensure easy scanning.

Our ‘Peaceful” skate sessions have reduced capacity, static lights and quieter and calmer music than regular sessions. Ideal for anyone with specials needs, disabilities and parent and toddlers. Children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult (18+) on the rink; adults and children must have tickets. One adult can supervise up to three children. These sessions are available from 10am-10.45am every morning.

Skates & Helmets

Skate hire is included in the ticket price, but you can bring your own skates, if preferred. Epsom Downs Racecourse is not responsible for your skates, shoes or property when skating at our rinks. There is not reduction in price if you bring your own skates.

We hold a large number of skates, and a wide range of sizes are available. Our skate sizes range from size J8 to size 14. We also have bob skates available for younger skaters. Skates size availability and bob skates cannot be guaranteed. They are issued on a first come, first served basis.

Helmets are not available for hire. Skaters are welcome to bring their own e.g. a bike helmet

Skate Aids

Skate aids will be available to hire at the rink for £5.00 on a first come, first served basis.

To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, child skate aids are only available for children under 120cm.

Rink staff will measure all children hiring a skate aid to ensure they meet the height requirement.

We offer children and adults, who are over 120cm tall and require stability support on the ice, the option of bob-skates. Bob-skates are double bladed. Bob-skates can be requested at the skate exchange desk when you swap your shoes for ice skates; they are available in all sizes.

Helmets can be requested on site. Helmets are not available to hire but skaters are welcome to bring their own e.g. bike helmet

At The Rink

The rink will be open to the public from Thursday 28th November 2024 until Sunday 5th January 2025 (excl Christmas Day).

First session starts at 10am and the last session starts at 8pm except for 24 & 31 December when the last session starts at 3pm.

Selfie Sticks and Go Pro sticks are prohibited to use whilst skating on the ice rink. Spectators can use the viewing areas to take any photos and videos.

We recommend wrapping up in warm, outdoor clothing and please wear gloves. We have extra gloves and socks available to purchase on site, but we still recommend you bring your own as these are subject to availability.

As skates can get wet, it would be a good idea to bring a change of socks for after your session.

Facilities

Bags of any description are not allowed on the ice. Please ensure you only bring essential items with you to the rink as storage space is limited in the cloakrooms (no large baggage or shopping please).

We operate a cashless system at the rinks, so cloakrooms must be paid for by card only which are £2 per item.

As cloakrooms are used at your own risk, it’s best to leave valuables at home. Epsom Downs Racecourse does not accept any liability for loss, theft or damage except if caused by intent or gross negligence of the company or its employees.

Yes, our skate marshals are on the ice rink on every session to monitor safe skating and will assist skaters, where possible, if you are a novice.

We have trained medics and first aiders on site at all times in case of an incident. We do not require anyone to sign a waiver before skating.

We welcome wheelchair users on any sessions, any time. We recommend attending quieter sessions for a more enjoyable experience (quieter sessions tend to be the off-peak sessions.)

A Personal Assistant who is comfortable on the ice must accompany wheelchair users, don’t forget to request a free Personal Assistant ticket via our customer relations team along with your booking reference.

There is no weight limit on the rink but for safety we do ask electric wheelchairs should be set to manual mode while on the rink.
