2022 Intro

2022 was the 243rd annual Derby race, taking place at Epsom Downs Racecourse on Saturday 4 June.

The 2022 Derby started at 4.30pm and Desert Crown ridden by Richard Kingscote won the race. Desert Crown is trained by Sir Michael Stoute and owned by Mr Saeed Suhail.

Interesting Facts

Six fillies have won the Derby, the most recent being Fifinella in 1916. The other five fillies who have won the Derby are: Eleanor in 1801, Blink Bonny in 1857, Shotover in 1882, Signorinetta in 1908 and Tagalie in 1912.

 

  • Lester Piggot is the greatest of all Derby winners, having won the race a total of nine times during his career.
  • A total of seven races take place on Derby Day at Epsom Racecourse.
