Fixture Note
Race 5 Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase: Fence 4 omitted due to waterlogged ground on the landing side.
 
Race 1 - 1:30pm BALLYMORE NOVICES' HURDLE (Grade 1)
BRAHMA BULL (IRE), DUC DES GENIEVRES (FR) and SCARPETA (FR) wore earplugs.
Following the race the Veterinary Officer reported that the winner, SAMCRO (IRE), lost its right fore shoe.
 
Race 2 - 2:10pm RSA INSURANCE NOVICES' CHASE (Grade 1)
AL BOUM PHOTO (FR) and BONBON AU MIEL (FR) wore earplugs.
The performance of DOUNIKOS (FR), which was pulled up, was considered. Gordon Elliott could offer no explanation for the gelding's performance. The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding, during routine testing, failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
Race 3 - 2:50pm CORAL CUP HANDICAP HURDLE (Grade 3)
Alan Fleming, was fined £140 as the record of vaccinations in the passport of AS YOU WERE (FR) did not comply with the Rules of Racing. ABBYSSIAL (IRE) wore earplugs. LE BREUIL (FR) wore earplugs in the parade ring only. The winner, BLEU BERRY (FR) appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Leopardstown on 3 February 2018 where the gelding finished seventeenth of twenty-eight beaten 21 lengths on soft ground. W.P. Mullins representative's explanation that BLEU BERRY (FR) had come on from the Leopardstown run, which was the gelding's first race for nine months, was noted. BLEU BERRY (FR) was routine tested. Following the race Davy Russell reported that DIAMOND KING (IRE), which was pulled up, was badly hampered by a faller at the first flight. Paul Townend reported that MAX DYNAMITE (FR), which started joint favourite and finished unplaced, jumped poorly throughout. The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of MAX DYNAMITE (FR), during routine testing, failed to reveal any abnormalities. The Veterinary Officer reported that BARRA (FR), placed third, lost its left fore shoe and GRACEFUL LEGEND, unplaced, lost its right fore shoe.
 
Race 4 - 3:30pm BETWAY QUEEN MOTHER CHAMPION CHASE (Grade 1)
ALTIOR (IRE) was examined by a veterinary surgeon before the race and was deemed fit to run. MIN (FR) wore earplugs. POLITOLOGUE (FR), ridden by Sam Twiston-Davies and trained by Paul Nicholls, left the parade early. The rider was interviewed and was fined £1,000.
Following the race the Veterinary Officer reported that AR MAD (FR), which was pulled up, was lame right hind.
 
Race 5 - 4:10pm GLENFARCLAS CROSS COUNTRY CHASE
Having reviewed recordings of the false start, the Starters were satisfied that no riders should be reported for contravening the starting procedures. The winner, TIGER ROLL (IRE) and THE LAST SAMURI (IRE), placed third, did not enter the winner's enclosure on veterinary advice. TIGER ROLL (IRE) appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Cheltenham on 15 December 2017 where the gelding finished fifth of nine, beaten 42 lengths. Gordon Elliott's representative's explanation that TIGER ROLL (IRE) jumped slowly at Cheltenham and benefited from subsequent schooling at home, was noted. TIGER ROLL (IRE) was routine tested. Following the race the Veterinary Officer reported that CAUSE OF CAUSES (USA), which was pulled up, was lame right fore, CHIC NAME (FR), placed fifth, suffered from heat stress post-race and THE LAST SAMURI (IRE), placed third, suffered from mild heat stress post-race.
 
Race 6 - 4:50pm BOODLES FRED WINTER JUVENILE HANDICAP HURDLE (Grade 3)
NUBE NEGRA (SPA) wore earplugs which were removed at the start. The winner, VENEER OF CHARM (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Navan on 20 January 2018 where the gelding finished last of the seven finishers, beaten 18 ½ lengths. It was noted that the Gordon Elliott could offer no explanation for the gelding's improved form. VENEER OF CHARM (IRE) was routine tested. Following the race Mark Walsh reported that MITCHOUKA (FR), which was pulled up, had been badly hampered by a faller at the third flight and was never travelling thereafter. The Veterinary Officer reported that LOOK MY WAY, unplaced, lost its left hind shoe and ERAGON DE CHANAY (FR), unplaced, lost its right hind shoe.
 
Race 7 - 5:30pm WEATHERBYS CHAMPION BUMPER (Grade 1)
BLACKBOW (IRE), TORNADO FLYER (IRE) and COLREEVY (IRE) wore earplugs. Permission was given for FELIX DESJY (FR) to go early to post. Following the race the Veterinary Officer reported that NESTOR PARK (FR) lost its left hind shoe and ARCH MY BOY, unplaced, lost its right hind shoe. The representative of Jamie Snowden reported that THEBANNERKINGREBEL (IRE), which was pulled up, had a breathing problem.
