Early going news & non-runners on The November Meeting Sunday

Press Release 19th November 2017 Cheltenham

Early going news & non-runners

The going for the third and final day of The November Meeting, The November Meeting Sunday, remains:

Soft, Heavy in places

All chase bends have been dolled out nine yards (out two yards from yesterday) and all hurdle bends have been dolled out 11 yards (out two yards from yesterday), except the home turn which is dolled out six yards (in three yards from yesterday's line).

The start of the 2m 5f hurdle has been moved forward 26yds.

Today's race distances are therefore as follows:

1.15pm - 2m 5f 103yds
1.50pm & 2.25pm - 2m 35yds
3.00pm, 3.30pm & 4.00pm - 2m 150yds

Simon Claisse, Regional Head of Racing, South West & Clerk of the Course at Cheltenham, said at 7.00am this morning: "We had a wonderful day's racing yesterday, despite the rain.

"We had over 31,000 people here to see locally-trained Splash Of Ginge win the BetVictor Gold Cup ridden by Tom Bellamy. Trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies said he hoped the rain would come. We didn't want quite the amount of rain we got but it certainly played into the hands of the winner.

"It was also a day for the youngsters with Bryony Frost winning the novices' chase on Black Corton and James Bowen winning one of the handicap hurdles.

"It has been dry overnight, which is a relief and there hasn't been any frost. The team have done a fantastic job moving rails well into the evening yesterday. This will ensure that we can push today's runners on to some slightly fresher ground, although they did go wide on the both the chase and hurdle courses yesterday.

"The going is still Soft, Heavy in places. The good news is that the forecast is dry - I hope we can believe it today and we may see some sunny spells this afternoon.

"We are all set to see some top-class horses in action this afternoon, including Fox Norton and The New One."
