OUR GUIDE TO READING A RACECARD
With colourful, comprehensive guides to the runners in each race, you can try and pick your winner from your Cheltenham racecard. Whether you're looking for the funniest name, the brightest colour or are wanting to know the latest results of a particular horse, the racecard is the bible to your day with us. Once you know what to look for, your Cheltenham racecard can tell you all the key information on the runners and riders as well as some quick and simple clues to help you pick a winner.
Firstly, use the racecard to check the times of each race. This is where the list of the runners and riders will be shown. You will see the horses’ names, the coloured silks worn by the jockeys and saddlecloth numbers.
It’s worth checking the horses’ form or most recent performances. This information appears in a series of numbers and some letters next to your horse’s name. A horse that hasn’t been performing well or is out of form might not be your best choice.
It is possible to get a message put in the racecard, please email cheltenham.reception@thejockeyclub.co.uk at least seven days in advance of the raceday.
