A STAR TOOK CENTRE STAGE

Stage Star's remarkable victory at The November Meeting’s, Paddy Power Gold Cup. Despite a heart-stopping blunder at the final fence, this seven-year-old Fame And Glory gelding, reminiscent of his Grade One Turners Novices’ Chase triumph at The 2023 Festival, surged ahead, driven by sheer determination.

Under the skilled guidance of jockey Harry Cobden, Stage Star held a commanding lead throughout the race, only to face a heart in mouth moment as he stumbled at the last fence. Yet, in a display of remarkable resilience, Cobden swiftly steadied his mount, rallying Stage Star back into contention.

NOT THE ONLY CENTENARY HERE

This year at Cheltenham we witnessed a historic milestone for legendary trainer Willie Mullins as he reached an astounding 100 winners at the Cheltenham Festival. Mullins, renowned for his expertise and dominance in the sport, achieved this remarkable feat with yet another display of excellence when Jasmin De Vaux claimed the win in The Weatherbys Champion Bumper. This followed earlier winners on the day from Ballyburn in the Gallagher Novices Hurdle & Fact To File in the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase, marking 3 winners on the a remarkable Style Wednesday of the Cheltenham Festival day for Mullins.

GALOPIN TO BACK TO BACK WINS

After celebrating 100 years of the Cheltenham Gold Cup, we had a very fitting winner as it was won for the second consecutive year by Galopin Des Champs.

The race was won by jockey Paul Townend for a record-equalling fourth time after his previous successes on Al Boum Photo (2019, 2020) and Galopin Des Champs (2023).

This was no doubt the highlight of the unconquerable Willie Mullins & Paul Townend combinations week, the former notching up 100 wins not out at the Cheltenham Festival, an unprecedented feat.

TWO QUEENS ENTER THE WINNERS ENCLOSURE

Outsider Captain Guinness sailed to victory today in the Betway Queen Mother Champion Chase, going one better than last year and putting Rachael Blackmore back into the winners enclosure in the feature race on Style Wednesday. This victory also marked her first Champion Chase win and her 16th win at the Cheltenham Festival. Rachael ‘The Queen Of Cheltenham’ Blackmore was presented her trophy by Her Majesty, Queen Camilla.

CHELTENHAM BECOMES SKELTONHAM

Dan & Harry Skelton set their personal best of four winners at the Cheltenham Festival, flying the flag for the British, including two incredible Grade 1s with Grey Dawning & Protektorat that both came on a remarkable Thursday.

On top of this The Skelton duo also clinched a double victory on Style Wednesday, with Langer Dan and Unexpected Party both racing to triumph in The Coral Cup Handicap Hurdle and The Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Chase.

THANK YOU PADDY

After an emotional win on Manothepeople at The April Meeting Paddy Brennan has decided to retire. The atmosphere in the race presentation following his victory was a movement to remember for all in attendance.

He rode more the 1,600 winners spanning 27 years, that included a memorable victory in the 2010 Gold Cup on Imperial Commander.

Cheltenham Racecourse would like to wish you all the best in your retirement!
