Cheltenham Radio is a special radio station that ran throughout the 4 days of the festival broadcasting 24 hours a day. The station brought you all the colour and spectacle of jump racings biggest week with live commentary of all the races. The service was not only available in the area around the racecourse but also online.

The station features a number of hugely experience racing broadcasters including Rupert Bell & Cheltenham festival winning jockey among others. The station also provided regular travel updates throughout the day.

Cheltenham Radio at The November Meeting

Cheltenham Radio is a special radio station that will run throughout the 3 days of The November Meeting. The station will bring you all the action from the track with live commentary of all the races. Listen on 87.7fm. Headsets will be available to purchase at the Tote stands.


The Cheltenham Radio Team

Rupert Bell has been a sports broadcaster for well over 30 years and is a regular voice on Talksport covering a wide range of sports including Horse racing for whom he is their lead commentator. Rupert love of all things sport started with Cheltenham when he first came to the course in the early 70’s.

Darren’s main role is that of a Racecourse Commentator in Britain, a position he has held since the late 90's covering meetings around the country.

In addition to calling the horses for Racetech, he occasionally broadcasts for BBC Radio 5 Live and has been a member of their Grand National commentary team at Aintree since 2014.

Prior to his association with BBC Radio he was part of BBC TV’S National commentary squad from 2004 to 2012.

Darren can be heard commentating for Equidia’s English language service on French racing, in addition to covering meetings in Bahrain during the winter.  

His other duties include presenting William Hill’s popular internet Racing Radio show, commentating off tube for Spotlight Media, as well as on course at point to points and harness race meetings. 

For many years he worked as a Race Reader for Raceform, Racing Post and The Sporting Life.

Writer and broadcaster, Nigel was head of broadcast for many years at William Hill and was a frequent presenter on William Hill Racing and Sports Radio. Living in Cheltenham and The Cotswolds, he is well placed to pick up on The Festival vibe.
